Will you walk with me?

Will you walk with me…

On my journey? I don’t know what’s ahead, but I know the way. It will be hard, though it must be. Will you come? It’ll be crazier than I can imagine. Scarier than I care to entertain. But it will be better than anything that has come.

Will you walk with me…

When my spirits are high? The road is easy. The water fresh. I know where I’m going. Filled with hope, I take step after assured step. Will you sing with me? Let’s join with the birds and the babbling brook as we go, so light almost leaping.

Will you walk with me…

When the road gets rough? When I no longer know the way, by my side will you stay? The brook is gone. The birds are silent. Sing with me still, for ahead we will have our fill. The rain pours down washing away the trail. Again and again I try to press on and fail.

Will you walk with me…

When I no longer can go on. When my feet are bruised and eyes shut with exhaustion, will you lend me a hand? Encourage me; together we will find a way. Help me up, and I will stand Remind me of where we head.

Will you walk with me…

When you no longer believe in me? There is no sign of hope ahead. “Turn back,” you say, but I press on instead. Will you follow when all faith is lost? Will you let me remind you of a life almost forgot? Walk hand in hand with me as we blindly press on.

Will you walk with me…

When one day we at last make it. All hope fulfilled, all dreams true. Sing with me forevermore surrounded by the other faithful few. Joy at last is seen face to face, rejoicing on in this place. No more pain will reign our lives. Only peace will be proclaimed.

One day this is where we will forever be. One day we will see. And all the times that seem lost, will become a small cost.

But for now…

Will you walk with me?

Standpoint

This is a — er– song… rap? I wrote late last year. Hopefully I can think up a melody and beat for it sometime. Any ideas?

Seeing each side
Knowing I lied
When I said I knew
Look I have no clue

I’ll watch each side
With my tongue tied
Smile for yes and no
And put on a good show

I have a standpoint without getting up
Sitting outside of the right club
Why should I bother myself with an opinion
When without I could persuade dominions
Passive is the new movement
There’s no need to represent

They just want your consent
To have no intent
Don’t understand, stay content

I’m not even a note in a song
Not even a pebble in a pond
I’m nothing and that’s something 2x

Who can say what went wrong
When it happened, where it started
Keep it that way
You’ll be glad you stayed
For knowledge is power
The power to cower

I have a viewpoint with closed eyes
Blinded by those blurred lines
Oh, they’re so easy to jump over
So I’ll just be a pushover

There are messed up people out there
That have a way of getting in your hair
So deny their existence; belie their resistance
What you don’t know will kill the rest of you

Parade

~Rediscovered this song I wrote a few months back. I think it’s pretty sappy, but it passed the family test with flying colors. What do you think?

I made a plan years ago
I would have a solo show
I made decisions for times ahead
I didn’t think I was misled

[chorus]

And you came like rain on my parade
And I wouldn’t have it any other way

I made assumptions about the future
None of which involved a suitor
But, God this I will pray
Rain, rain don’t go away

I thought I knew what my life would be
But it’s just now that I’m starting to see
Can’t you tell I’m caught up in your storm
Who knew life would take this form?

[chorus]

You came like rain on my parade
And I wouldn’t have it any other way

[Bridge]

Please, please don’t pass through
I’m completely blown away by you
Go on, grow higher
Go on, grow wider
It’ll scare me half to death
And take away my breath
But I’ll wait out the fear
And stay with you, dear

Cuz you came like rain on my parade
And I wouldn’t want it any other way

To the Sound of Praise

This year in school I am learning about Church History starting immediately after Jesus death’. Now I am right before the dark ages. For this assignment I had to write a poem/song telling about someone’s death and heroism. Since I had just read about Nero’s persecution of the Christians I decided to write about that.

Through ages they grew, grew
A people made new, new
Lost their lives
To gain true life
To serve poor and rich alike
To shine their bright light
To shine the bright light

Part of the world, yes part part
Yet always apart, part, part
Turned their cheek
Tried to be meek
Loved their enemies
Loved, yes always loved
Loved, yes loved

Because of their ways, ways
They were given bad names, names
love returned with hate
Scorn and berate
And light was turned to night
And people turned to fright
And people turned to fright

Locked away they were, were
Old, young, him and her, her
And out they were taken
And murdered like their begotten
To the sound of singing
To the sound of praise
The sound of praise

My Joy!

Sitting on my back step,
I start to understand
why at this time of year
life brings me such joy!
It can’t be explained
but it’s something like music:
Soft as lambs ear,
Sweet as October breezes,
Comforting as fragrant leaves
But there is more than these
that soften my heart,
For I am content sitting on my step
All four senses alert,
For in my mind,
Fall is when life really comes!
