Indie in Indy

IMG_0225Spring break. *sigh* It is a wonderful time. Just when you think you can’t take school, winter, and and all that comes with the two any longer, spring break happens upon you and for a week you get a taste of summer and the freedom it brings.

For me, spring break was just that. I was especially glad this year when spring break arrived because 1) I didn’t know I was getting one until that week, and 2) I got to see a dear friend, Abby. This friend moved  two years ago, and so my whole family drove up to see her and her family in their new setting: Columbus, Indiana. Columbus is a small, quaint, artsy, clean-cut town.

Since Nate has his license, he, Abby and I drove around and then walked around quite a bit. We went downtown on several occasions and also took an afternoon in Nashville, IN. On one of the downtown rides, Nate, confused by the one-way streets and Abby’s directions, got pulled over. Here we were dancing like maniacs and singing One Direction (I know, I know it’s low), when I notice flashing lights behind us. Thankfully, because of Nate’s perfect record, we got away with a warning. We really were paying attention, but I guess we chose the wrong direction for that trip. It was actually funny to see how nervous Nate got.  No, I wasn’t laughing… Well, maybe just a little.

We also watched some great movies and TV shows. I saw Batman Begins for the first time as well as the new Sherlock TV show which is mind blowing in every way. Then there’s the classic Psych. You know that’s right, whaaaat? We also watched Rope, an old murder movie. It was filmed much like a play: one room, one continuous cut. It really made you think. Good stuff.

We got to go to a farm that raised alpacas! If you don’t know what that is, it is an animal that is much like a smaller version of a llama but is the cutest, softest thing you have ever seen or felt. Their fur is amazing.

We all had a great time reuniting and talking and just being total hipsters! And we had lots and lots of candy. I had my first ring pop! I felt pretty cool. I also got talked into getting a pinterest, so I’ve been pinning my days away…

Overall, great trip!

Yeah, mon! JAMAICA

This past June, my grandparents took me, my brother and my two cousins on our 7th annual vacation. Previously, we staid in the states traveling as far as Florida (more posts to follow); however, last summer we went to Jamaica. It was the first time I had gone out of the country, so it was a new and exciting experience. In Jamaica, we went to an all-exclusive resort on the beach. It was an amazing time and quite educational on many levels… I met many people and danced most every night away at the teen club.  I loved the ocean and the really hot weather, and I truly enjoyed reading The Hobbit in a hammock with white waves and sand at my feet.

St. Louis Return

In August my mom and I went down to St. Louis to learn about Rhythmic Writing to help me with my dyslexia. While we were there we visited with some old friends. Maggie (one of the old friends, not old but an old friend) and I found out that we both like photography so we had a great time editing pictures and taking pictures. Below is a slide-show of the whole adventure!
