My Joy!

Sitting on my back step,
I start to understand
why at this time of year
life brings me such joy!
It can’t be explained
but it’s something like music:
Soft as lambs ear,
Sweet as October breezes,
Comforting as fragrant leaves
But there is more than these
that soften my heart,
For I am content sitting on my step
All four senses alert,
For in my mind,
Fall is when life really comes!

Bread Crumb

To a bread crumb,
Oh, tiny meal of a mouse
Hidden, you are, under the table
Stale with dry jelly
Dodged the broom, and now forgotten
To all but the mouse
Who has waited so patiently
For a feast such as this
To bring in his little chamber in the wall
And share with his kids

Waterfall

As it slides lazily along
The pace finally quickens.
As it comes to the edge,
It tips and curls over.
Hurriedly it falls as if in a race;
Till finally with a crash,
It meets the water below.

Fall

Wind blows, leaves quiver.
Some lose their grip.
As Summer is fading and Fall approaches,
Leaves start to slip.
