Day Made

Today I gave my first real speech – information in proper format, PowerPoint, note cards, visual aid, all under 7 minutes, which for me is a challenge. I was pretty nervous, but I went up in front of my class and did my thing. My speech was on swing dancing and I demonstrated a bit in my 1940’s attire. I got all the points and sat down happily and listened to everyone else’s speech. After everyone had gone, and we were all packing up to leave, a guy in my class gave me this. I didn’t even know what to say. It’s just so perfect. It even kind of looks like anime. I think I’m more excited about it than the good grade I got on my speech.

Spring Banquet 2014

What a way to party out my last Hallstrom school year. Getting ready with my drama twins, pictures at Sinnissippi, dinner at Olive Garden and dance time! I have to say it was one of my favorite dances I’ve been too. Turn Down For What three times, I think yes. Glow sticks, heck yeah! So much happy. But the party didn’t end there. Sleepover and brunch with the gang (that included a nap time) and a graduation party the next day. One of my favorite weekends so far this year. Oh, summer will be so great.

My Last Play

After eight plays with Hallstrom, I finally reached my last one. I ended with A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream, my favorite Shakespeare play. Yes, I’m only a Junior, but I’m going to community college full time next semester and most of my friends are graduating. Not to mention the directors that I have been with are also leaving. It’s time to be done. It was a pretty emotional last play for everyone because it was the last time we would all be onstage together, but it was good. And crazy. By the way, it was set in the eighties. With Eighties music.

White Out Prom

Yep. Prom happened. Grand old time again. So much has happened since last year. Little things and big things. This year, for example, I actually know how to curl my own hair and pin it up fairly well.

Also, downtown Rockford is a pretty kicky place once you can get over the fear of being shot.

I had a great time hanging out with these people (some of them for the first time). Besides, who doesn’t like dressing up, taking pictures, eating fabulous chocolate and pizza, and dancing?

(Shout out to Joanna Kay for taking the photos and making my dress! I might have sewed a few seams too.)
